Here is some practical advice to get you started. First, decide whether you're looking for an electric or acoustic instrument. Second, determine if this will be new or used. The easy answer for us is second-hand. A new high-performing guitar is usually priced in the stratosphere, and an inexpensive one will usually not be so highly performing.
